Ms. Phoenicia Butler is a proud New Jersey native who has spent her life in the dance and entertainment industry. Since she began her training, Ms. Butler has been dedicated to advancing her skills in modern, hip-hop, contemporary, and other forms of dance, by studying with Broadway artists, taking master classes with professional choreographers, and devoting countless hours of training under the direction of Lawrence Edwards at the Movement Dance Academy in Eatontown, NJ. She has been featured in commercials, music videos, musical theater, and television productions. Ms. Butler attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Dance Education and served as a captain for the Charlotte 49ers Gold Dusters. She is the first ever dance instructor at Reedy Creek Elementary School where she began the program in 2016. As a first year teacher, Ms. Butler was selected as a nominee for the 2016-2017 CATO Excellence In Teaching Award and the 2016-2017 Charlotte Ballet Dance Educator of the Year Award. She has also earned the 2016-2017 Principal’s Award and the 2017 September Staff Member of the Month Award. Ms. Butler was selected as a 2018 MeckEd Teacher of Excellence Award Recipient.
